Teacher of PSHCE

From: August 2023

Salary: MPS/UPS

Rawlins Church of England Academy is seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic Teacher of PSHCE to join our fantastic team and flourishing school. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to teach PSHCE to KS3 and KS4 (potentially KS5), have a love for the subject and a passion for teaching so that our pupils thrive. The ability to be able to offer another subject if needed would be desirable but not essential.

The Society in Action Faculty (which includes the PSHCE Department) is a vibrant mix of experienced and new teachers. We have excellent support packages for NQTs and RQTs through mentoring and developmental support from our ITT and SCITT programme leaders. The Faculty has a number of outstanding individuals who regularly share their expertise and work collaboratively, which will contribute to your own personal development. This combination of teamwork, an outward looking approach and a willingness to reflect internally upon best practice, has resulted in strong collaborative working as all staff are encouraged to participate fully within the Faculty, contributing their ideas in order to ensure we continue to move forward. We therefore welcome applications from experienced teachers and NQTs.

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of Leicestershire’s largest secondary school, with over 1500 on roll including more than 300 in our A-level specific Sixth Form. We are a highly inclusive school having our own Autism and a Moderate Learning Difficulties specialist unit on site alongside our school’s SEND support base and Welfare & Success Centre known as ‘The Hive’. Pupils who attend these units are an integrated part of our school community.

There is a strong sense of community in the school, the village of Quorn and the surrounding areas with a committed and aspirational parent support base. Teamwork and making the most of every opportunity is a key feature of school life. We aim to inspire our pupils to find their talents and their passions through a broad and balanced curriculum; to be curious about learning; to relish a challenge and to have both confidence and resilience. Applications are therefore welcomed from well-qualified and highly motivated individuals who are keen to work with remarkable young people providing an exceptional education for all.

Our core purpose is summed up in our vision and values:

Developing Trust | Inspiring Hope | Building Success | Shaping the Future

Through: Compassion, Wisdom and Endurance

And via our motto: Act wisely and make the most of every opportunity

Rawlins is an extremely rewarding place to work. We hope you will take the time to look at our website to find out more about us and apply. For any further role specific info, please contact the Director of Learning - Society in Action, Laura Watts.
